Anti-Aging by Dr. Sandeep Bhasin

As present day life span is increasing ,our focus is more on improving the quality of life.Healthy aging and enhancing productivity and quality of life in elderly population is demand of present society. Geriatrics is the branch dealing with health related problems of old age.In 2005, WHO accepted the significance of andropause in males above the age of 40. With these concepts we will discuss few things on the science of Anti-Aging.

Factors contributing to aging process

1 Decreased Blood Circulation
2 Deficiency of Hormones
3 Free radicle damage and chronic inflammation
4 Heavy metals
5 Emotional trauma and conflicts
6 Imbalance of Neurotransmitters
7 Blockages in Pranic channels
8 Improper Diet and obesity
9 Inadequate physical exercise

Above mentioned are the commonly accepted and well known factors for increasing our aging process.

Decreased Circulation is a major cause of aging. Atherosclerosis is the process of slowly blocking the of major blood vessels by the deposits of cholesterol and calcium.

This leads to hypertension, angina, stroke, pain on walking [claudication]. Once major blood vessels are sclerosed blood and oxygen supplied to all major organs are curtailed . This leads to slow death of these tissues. One may think how to retard Atherosclerosis ?

Well the answer to this lies in the cause of this malady. As cholesterol deposits in the blood vessels and blocks them, all efforts should be made to reduce cholesterol. This includes diet which does not promote unhealthy cholesterol. VEGETARIAN DIET and avoiding excess use of ghee, fats and butter is best.

As calcium is in the core of atherosclerosis plaques, removing excess calcium can help to regress the sclerosis process. This can be done by a specific process known as CHELATION THERAPY. In this a special medicine EDTA is given in drip form. This removes calcium deposits from the plaques. This in turn leads to increased circulation, decreased angina, normalization of blood pressure, improved wound healing etc. Chelation therapy has been safely used in over 5 lakhs of people.

Another method of improving blood flow is by a special machine called ECP [ Extra Corporeal Counter Pulsation] This is FDA approved technology of increasing blood flow to heart and preventing Bypass surgery. Improving heart functioning, enhanced circulation to heart, brain and kidney are additional advantages of this process.

Deficiency of Hormones

Hormone deficiency in old age accelerates aging process. Supplementation with right hormones in correct dose is very essential in delaying our aging process. Minimum possible dose of hormones should be used. As far as possible these should resemble natural hormones i.e BIO IDENTICAL HORMONES. Hormones as DHEA, Testosterone, Melatonin, Oestrogen and Progestrone should be assessed and replenished in right doses.

Using plant sources - in order to evade hormones - is another way of balancing hormones. Soya products are rich in phyto oestrogen, Kappikachu is a natural souse of Dopamine, Choleus Forskohli is a good source of phyto progesterone

Some yogic postures and exercises are also helpful in balancing our hormones and neurotransmitters. Kriya yoga, Siddha practices and other esoteric practices can keep one young even in advanced age. I would mention one simple exercise which is very effective in balancing our hormones and neurotransmitters. This is SUN MEDITATION. Simply speaking it is sun gazing without blinking for 30 -40 minutes. Swami Uma Shankarji, and Hira Ratan Manik are pioneers in this field. Both of them are surviving with out food for many years.

Free radicals are culprits of damaging our cells and accelerating wear and tear in tissues. Avoiding smoking, drug & alcohol addiction, trans fatty acids and pollution can decrease free radical damage. Using supplements as Vitamin C, E, ALA, Selenium and trace elements in right dose can decrease this ongoing damage. Increasing the consumption of fruits, raw food and salads also help in fighting with free radicles.

Ozone therapy is another boon that has come in recent times. Ozone can reduce free radical and enhance blood oxidation. This flushes of body toxins and rejuvenates our body .Ozone enhances energy level, fights bacterial ,viral and fungal infections. All this reduces inflammation in body and enhance body immunity and sense of well being.

Heavy Metals as lead, mercury, copper, aluminum etc cause damage to body.

Eliminating heavy metals by Chelation therapy, right supplements, and avoiding exposure to heavy metals can prolong our life and well being.

Body detoxification as in Panch Karma ,infra red sauna ,fasting etc can also mobilize unwanted metals from body.

Emotional Trauma and conflict cause internal stress. This creates inner imbalance and diseases. Our emotions are stored in tissues as tissue memories and archetypes. These keep on programming the cell functioning. Tissue memories can be cleared by processes as rebirthing, Bio Yoga , Dianetics, Regression etc.

Neurotransmitter Imbalance Recently Dr. Lechin F. has shown in a study of over 30,000 patients that all major diseases as cancer, asthma, auto immune disorder skin diseases etc are because of Neuro transmitter imbalances. This he categorized in Depression, Chronic Stress and Dysthymia. By balancing neurotransmitters many diseases can be cured.

To review we can delay aging by

1 Right diet i.e., vegetarian diet, low calorie diet rich in anti oxidants as fruits and salads.

2 Regular exercise, Regular aerobic exercise improve blood circulation, uplifts mood, strengthen bones and lowers cholesterol and blood pressure.
3 Deep Breathing exercises and releasing our pent up emotions.
4 Sun Meditation after learning from right authority.
5 Hormone Balancing using herbs and right supplements.

6 Chelation therapy to improve ciculation in selcted cases.

7 ECP to prevent Bypass in case one is suffering from angina or heart failure.
8 Ozone therapy.
9 Bio Yoga to lower heart rate and respiratory rate.
10 Preventing high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholestrol.
